10.1. Configure Your MSP Organization Name and Default Client
Update AlgaPSA general settings, including organization name and default client details, so tenant-level configuration stays accurate.
Tenant-level general settings identify your MSP and provide shared defaults used across the application. Keeping these values current helps staff recognize the correct workspace and prevents avoidable confusion when creating client-facing records.
Navigate to Settings > General.
Figure 1: General Settings holds the organization name, the tenant default time zone, and the default client — here the MSP Northwind Managed IT is its own default client.
- Open Settings > General.
- Review Organization Name, then click Save Organization Name after editing. This is the name of your MSP organization in AlgaPSA. Update it when your company name changes, when a tenant was created with a placeholder, or when you need the displayed organization name to match internal policy.
- Review Default Time Zone. This zone is used for emails and notifications when a user has not set their own timezone, so pick the zone where most of your team operates and click Save Default Time Zone.
- Review Clients. This area lets you manage clients within your organization. You can add new clients or set a default client.
- If you add a new client from this area, use a real business name that your team will recognize, such as Cascade Manufacturing or Pioneer Law Group. Avoid temporary test names once the tenant is in use.
- If you set a default client, choose the client intentionally. The default should support your team's operating model and should not accidentally point work toward an unrelated client.
- Save your changes using the available save action on the page.
After updating general settings, your organization name and client default should reflect the tenant's current setup. Staff should see the correct organization context when working in AlgaPSA, and client-related workflows should use the intended client defaults where applicable.
If you are still building out client records, complete the full client setup before relying on defaults. The client workflow includes company details, locations, contact information, and notes. See Add an MSP Client with Locations, Contacts, and Notes for the client creation steps.
Operational tip: review Settings > General after mergers, rebrands, or major client cleanup. Small tenant-level values are easy to overlook, but they shape how users interpret the workspace every day.
