Client tags help an MSP segment accounts without changing the underlying client record. They are useful for identifying managed services clients, high-priority accounts, onboarding groups, security-focused clients, or accounts that need billing review.

Use tags sparingly and consistently. A few clear tags make the client list easier to scan; too many overlapping tags create noise.

  1. Navigate to Clients from the sidebar.
  2. Open the client record you want to organize, such as Harbor Clinic or GreenLeaf Dental Group.
  3. In the client's Details view, find "Tags."
  4. Click the + button next to "Tags."
  5. Add the tag name, such as "High Priority," "Managed Services Client," or "Security Monitoring."
  6. Assign a color to the tag for visual identification.
  7. Save or confirm the tag action using the controls shown in the tag editor.
  8. Review the client record to make sure the tag now appears where the team expects to see it.

After adding the tag, the client should show that label in the Details view. The color makes the classification easier to recognize during account review, dispatch planning, or billing preparation.

Operational tip: define internal tag conventions before expanding usage. For example, reserve "High Priority" for clients with a contractual or management reason to receive elevated attention, and use service tags like "Managed Endpoint Care" or "Microsoft 365 Management" to describe the services that drive operations.

If the client profile itself is still incomplete, update the core record first. See Editing Client Information.
