AlgaPSA v1.4: Growing Alga, Growing MSPs
AlgaPSA v1.4 adds sales opportunities, project billing with milestones and payment gates, and a contract simulator that shows what you'll invoice before you bill it.
There's a piece of advice you hear constantly in business: don't just work in your business, work on your business. I've always been a little skeptical of it. In a real service business, wearing several hats is just a fact of life, and most of the operators I know are genuinely talented practitioners, not just managers. The better version of the advice, I think, is simpler: put your attention wherever it does the most good for your customers and your team. Some weeks that's sales and operations. Other weeks it's getting your hands dirty and helping a client directly.
But whichever hat you're wearing on a given day, two things can never stop: new customers coming in, and invoices going out. That's what v1.4 is about.
Sales Opportunities
The new sales opportunity module lets you define the stages of your sales process, every step you take a prospect through, from qualification to close. Tweak the process as you learn what works, and once you have it dialed in, run it again and again. When a deal closes, convert it to a contract or a new billable project, and hand it off from sales cleanly.

Project Billing
Speaking of billable projects: v1.4 introduces a project billing module flexible enough to handle projects of all shapes. Start with a fixed-fee project and add phases that bill separately. Define milestones with payment gates, fixed amounts or percentages of the project value. When the work is done, generate invoices right from the project billing tab and send them to your clients. And when an invoice goes unpaid or a project starts running over budget, you'll see alerts everywhere it matters, from the project itself all the way down to time entry.

Contract Simulator
Contracts can be complex, and learning the vernacular while setting one up isn't always straightforward. The new contract simulator shows you up front exactly what you'll be invoicing a client under a given contract. Run "what-if" scenarios to see how billing changes with invoiced hours or product sales. It accounts for prorating, billing cadence, and buckets of hours, and it goes a long way toward avoiding surprises and rework when it's time to bill.

Building the Growth Engine
Too much of running a service business still depends on stitching together spreadsheets, inboxes, accounting tools, and information that lives in someone's head. That works for a while, but every new customer, project, and employee adds another place where something can be missed.
As the MSPs we serve scale, AlgaPSA evolves alongside them. The features we're introducing in AlgaPSA v1.4 are designed to help you absorb that growth gracefully. They bridge the gap between the initial handshake and the final bill, ensuring the work delivered matches the promise made. That integrity is important to us. A PSA should not just record what happened after the fact. It should help an MSP understand what is happening now, what needs attention next, and where the business is beginning to drift off course.
The MSPs we work with are taking on more ambitious work, and that's a partnership we're proud to support. There is still a lot more to build. But with v1.4, AlgaPSA takes a meaningful step toward becoming the system that supports the whole business, from the first sales conversation to the final invoice.
