16.7. Link Related Assets and Map Dependencies
Connect related AlgaPSA assets to map dependencies between devices, and associate assets with tickets and projects so technicians see the full picture.
Relationships let you connect assets that depend on one another. For example, the workstations behind a switch, or a server and its attached storage, so technicians can see the bigger picture from any one device.
- Open an asset.
- Select the Related Assets tab.
Linking an Asset:
- Click Link Asset.
- In the dialog, use the Search assets box to find the asset to link (you can search by name, tag, or serial).
- Choose a Relationship type (e.g., Related or Affected).
- Select the asset, then click Link asset.
Reviewing and Removing Links:
Linked assets are listed with their Asset Name, Relationship, and Linked Date. Use the Actions column to Unlink an asset. Clicking a linked asset opens its details so you can navigate between connected devices.
Associating Assets with Tickets and Projects:
Assets can also be associated directly with tickets and projects. When working a ticket, use Add Asset to attach the affected or related devices, giving technicians immediate context on which hardware a request involves.
