Dive Into Alga PSA V 1.0.0 — Release Candidate 3: The Road to One (The Customization and Observation Takeover Edition)

MSP Teams often end up fighting with the gaps between systems rather than focusing on the work itself when it comes to things like time tracking, billing, and automating repetitive tasks. Small mismatches, invoices that don’t reflect agreements, contracts that renew outside the PSA, and workflows that can’t be inspected slowly are all common things that create operational friction. Release Candidate 3 focuses on operational clarity. This update introduces new features designed to be customizable and observable instead of hidden and static.

Invoice Designer & Billing Control

Billing rarely fits into a single template. 1.0.0-RC 3 introduces a block-based Invoice Designer that allows invoices to be constructed to match how services are actually delivered.

Invoices can now be created using structured blocks tied directly to system data. Instead of editing generated output after the fact or being restricted to generic templates, invoice structure becomes branded and part of configuration.

The designer includes:

  • Drag-and-drop invoice blocks

  • Schema-driven fields and mapped data inputs

  • Preset templates and reusable macro layouts

  • Bundled presets for common service structures

  • Live invoice preview before sending

Teams can create consistent invoice formats for agreements, block hours, usage billing, and one-off work without rebuilding layouts each billing cycle.

Contract Renewal Management

Contracts now exist as lifecycle records rather than static agreements. 1.0.0-RC 3 introduces renewal awareness directly into the platform, allowing teams to track, manage, and act on renewals without external reminders or spreadsheets.

You can now:

  • Store visible contract renewal dates

  • Approve, update, and send manual renewal updates

  • Automatically send contract renewals

  • Maintain non-renewing contracts when required

Renewals become an operational workflow instead of a calendar task.

IMAP Mailbox Integration

Inbound communication can now originate from existing support mailboxes through direct IMAP configuration.

This removes the need for forwarding rules or PSA-specific support addresses. Messages received through normal company mailboxes can enter the ticketing workflow while preserving familiar communication channels for clients.

Platform Dark Mode

1.0.0-RC 3 introduces a full dark theme across the platform interface.

Rather than simple color inversion, the UI adjusts contrast levels and palette behavior across components to maintain readability during extended usage. The theme applies consistently across tickets, projects, billing, and administration areas.

This reduces visual fatigue during long operational hours MSPs often face.

Workflow Automation Overhaul

In 1.0.0-RC 3, the workflow system has been rebuilt to allow inspection, editing, and monitoring of automation behavior rather than only triggering actions.

New workflow capabilities include:

  • Editable workflows and templates

  • Event catalog with defined triggers

  • Workflow run monitoring

  • Dead-letter run tracking for failures

  • Visual workflow editor with movable steps

  • Input data selection based on trigger type

  • Locked schema requirements for manual workflows

  • Named workflows with descriptions and event definitions

Teams can now see not only that automation executed, but why and how it executed and what data was used.

SLA Configurations

We’ve introduced configurable SLA options to help teams stay accountable without manual tracking. You can now define response expectations directly in the system, automatically track time to first response and resolution, and enforce technician reply windows across tickets.

Alongside the new SLA configuration system, Alga PSA now includes an SLA dashboard with real-time metrics and compliance reporting. Teams can instantly see response performance, breached tickets, paused SLAs, and overall compliance trends. Instead of digging through tickets to understand service quality, managers get a clear operational view while technicians know exactly what needs attention first.

Looking Ahead

With 1.0.0-RC 3 enhancing core billing, workflows, and service tracking, our next focus is expanding integrations and day-to-day operational visibility. Upcoming new features we’re exploring include:

  • Additional enhancements to workflows and invoice designer
  • Improvement to inbound email processing and Inbound email routing
  • On premise SSO
  • Entra Sync
  • Ticket watchlists
  • n8n integration
  • mobile iOS and Android app

Each release is another step toward a PSA that helps MSPs work more efficiently, stay organized, and get the most out of their platform. Thank you to our community for helping shape every stage of this journey.
